Conquer your back pain with low impact exercise.
If you are in your thirties or forties, chances are you have some experience with back pain. Most of the time when your back is hurt, exercise is the last thing on your mind, because all you want to do is heal. Obviously this can be a detriment to your life, especially if you are dedicated to your fitness, or trying to lose weight. The good news is, there are a few exercises you can do while suffering from back pain, and some of them might even alleviate your symptoms.
Yoga can be great for lower back pain because it stretches and tones the muscles, which take some pressure off of your spine. If you don’t know where to start, you can find youtube videos specifically for people with back pain.
Walking is obviously the easiest exercise since we do it every day. Make sure you invest in good shoes and a back brace however, to be sure your posture is correct.

Elliptical training is great for back pain because it is so low impact that you may not even realize you are getting a workout at all. That is, of course, until you step off the machine and try to walk to the water fountain.
Swimming is probably the best low impact exercise for back pain because the weightlessness takes the pressure off your back. You can also go to a gym that offers water exercises, like aerobics if you want to kick it up a notch.
The most important thing to remember if you are going to exercise with back pain is to trust your body. You know your limits, so listen to your body if it is telling you that something is severely wrong. Hopefully these low impact exercises will help keep you fit however, whether or not your troublesome back is acting up.
