As you may or may not know, March is Women’s History Month, and the best way to celebrate that is to take a moment to reflect on where we are as women, and where we hope to go in the future. Sports have always been a controversial issue in terms of women’s rights, and even today women struggle with being taken seriously as professional athletes.

When I Play is a short film that recently premiered on ESPN that focuses on the inspiration to be found in athletic women, and the self-esteem, team-building skills, and sense of accomplishment sports offer to young girls.

The film features the voices of many young female sports enthusiasts that are making their mark in male-dominated arenas. Its such an important film to watch, especially for women in sports, and mothers who want to send a positive message to their daughters.
