Cardiovascular exercise, unfortunately, is a necessary evil in terms of this plan. The health benefits of cardio have been scientifically proven, but that doesn’t make it any less painful to drag yourself out of bed and go for a run. There are also many different types of cardio, so at least you have some options in regards to how you get your exercise. To make it easier for you to decide, here are six types of cardio, and the amount of calories they burn, for your comparison.

  • Walking (Burns 300-400 Calories Per Hour)
  • Running (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)
  • Cycling (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)
  • Rowing (Burns Around 840 Calories Per Hour)
  • Swimming (Burns Around 600 Calories Per Hour)
  • Jumping Rope (Burns Over 1000 Calories Per Hour)

As you can see, jumping rope and rowing burn the most calories, but unless you have an excellent sports bra, you may not last an hour with a jump rope. Running, cycling, and swimming each burn 600 calories an hour, so if you enjoy all three, your best bet is to mix it up so you never get bored.
