I’ve said it once and I will say it again. You need to take care of your feet. As an orthopaedic surgeon and athlete, I cannot stress this enough. Your feet are very important to your overall health, but they are easily taken for granted.
Whether you are an athlete or just a regular gym-goer, your feet probably take and absorb a lot of stress. Exercise can be very demanding on your joints, especially around your ankles and feet. You may experience muscle tightness or pain, soreness, or fatigue in and around your feet.
You can spend some money on great athletic shoes (which I highly recommend), but its also important to be mindful of the shoes you wear after you leave the gym (in your recovery period).
I tend to wear athletic shoes a lot, but in my recovery periods, I swear by Oofos flip flops.
