Gummy vitamins are no longer just for kids, but how much is too much?
I have to be honest with you, I love the taste of gummy vitamins. I don’t know if it’s because of childhood nostalgia, or because it feels like I am eating healthy candy (the two go hand in hand, obviously), but I often find myself snacking on gummy vitamins like it’s going out of style. So it got me to wondering if it is possible to eat too many gummy vitamins, since I can’t really afford to leave my children motherless as I go out searching for my next gummy vitamin fix. So, I did a little research to find out if its possible to overdose on vitamin gummies.
The short answer is that while vitamins can be beneficial, if you eat too many it can become incredibly unhealthy.

-Fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K can have serious side effects if you consume too much, and you have to take into account the amounts of each that you are consuming from food, as well. Side effects can include diarrhea, vomiting, and liver failure in extreme cases.
-Gummy vitamins tend to have the same amount of calories and sugar as regular gummy bears, so while they are slightly more beneficial health-wise, eating too many is just as bad as eating too many regular gummies.
-Artificial sugars like sorbitol and xylitol can have a laxative effect if you consume too much, so eating too many vitamin gummies can result in diarrhea and upset stomach.
So long story short, make sure you pay attention to the recommended daily allowances, and keep your body balanced. If you have kids, keep the vitamin gummies in a place they can’t easily access, and monitor their intake.
With vitamin gummies, as with anything else, too much of a good thing isn’t always a good thing.
